Why your packaging is as important as your product itself!
Packaging is one of those things that is so important to many businesses.
However, it’s often not thought about in the impact it has on your business day to day.
In this blog, we want to touch on how it impacts your business and your brand in ways that you may not think of!
Protection
So first of all, packaging is there for a form of protection for most products, right?
It’s the cardboard carton that surrounds your product, it’s the satchel that you put it in to mail your product, it’s the shrink wrap and the strapping that you put on your product to secure it during transport.
But that’s just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to your packaging and your brand and how it works together.
Branding
The second thing that your packaging does for your business or your brand is branding.
Your packaging is the first point of view; the first touch point that customers have with your business when they receive your product.
With that in mind, we want the product to arrive to the customer in the best shape possible; logo’s showing, packed securely and all in one piece.
That is going to be a positive representation of your brand, as opposed to a broken box or ripped satchel that has been reused or recycled and doesn’t look like a lot of care has been put into it.

Marketing
The third reason why packaging is so important is marketing.
We don’t often think about marketing and our packaging going hand in hand, but they do.
So often, there’s a big opportunity for businesses to market their brand simply through their packaging, let alone the product itself.
When we think of packaging up a product, sending it off to the customer, we want to be thinking about:
- does the packaging have our business logo included?
- does the packaging have a positive reflection on our brand?
- does the opportunity present itself to include further marketing messages?
There are lots of different ways that you can get an edge on your competition simply by looking at the different ways that you can use your packaging as part of your marketing strategy.
Value Add
Lastly, the fourth reason why your packaging is as important as your product is should be a value add.
When the product arrives to the customer, you want it to turn up in great packaging that’s nice and secure, with your branding involved.
You want to create that great experience from start to finish with your entire customer journey and that is what increases the value in the eyes of the customer.
Because they know that the supplier cares about the product and also cares about them as the customer.
This simply increases the overall value felt by your customer.
So there we go, four reasons why your packaging is as important as the product itself.
