Why You Should Purchase High Quality Strapping

Cheap vs High Quality Strapping

Are you paying the price by purchasing on price when it comes to your strapping and strapping products?

You need to choose high quality strapping!

In this blog, I would like to list the reasons why you should not choose the cheapest option and the negative effects it can have on your business.

Cheap vs High-Quality Strapping

If you prefer to watch a video, Anthony and I prepared this earlier.

With strapping being one of our core products at Gateway Packaging, we often hear from business owners who have shopped around on price and have ultimately paid the price with an inferior quality product.

That is why I wanted to list the reasons why you should not buy strapping simply based on price.

Cheaper Strapping

1. will deteriorate a lot faster than a high quality strapping

2. potentially compromises on safety

  • your own safety
  • safety of your employees
  • transport and freight personnel
  • customers that receive it at the other end

3. ends up costing you more money in the long run

How To Choose The Right Type Of Strapping

With that said, here are a few tips on how to choose the right type of strap.

  • Conduct your own research on potential suppliers and the quality of their products
  • Discuss your requirements with suppliers you trust supply a quality product
  • Arrange a strapping trial or onsite demo from your supplier

Suppliers should be willing to go out, meet potential customers, look at their requirements, make some recommendations and conduct demonstrations of the particular strapping that they would recommend for their application.

Types Of Strapping

There are several factors to consider when choosing the right strapping product for the job.

Here is a list of items that you need to consider:

  • the specified tensile breaking strength (Will the strapping be strong ensure to hold the load?)
  • the possibility of the load changing volume during transport due to load settlement (compensated for by the elasticity of the strapping material)
  • the suitability of the strapping to the load that you are securing (you would not use steel strapping for smaller, soft loads)

I have listed a few scenarios below to help clarify things a little further.

  1. You may have a requirement to secure odd shapes, machinery or heavy-duty loads which may have a tendency to creep during transport…

Suitable strapping to use: Steel Strapping

  2. Perhaps you have a smaller package that requires a lighter duty strap to ensure safe arrival of your packaged goods without damaging the materials…

Suitable strapping to use: Polypropylene Strapping

  3. You may have sensitive surfaced products that require the strength of steel strapping but also need protection from scratching and damage…

Suitable strapping to use:  Composite Strapping

4. If you require heavy duty loads to be strapped which will be exposed to the environment or moisture and you want to prevent rust occurring…

Suitable strapping to use:  Composite Strapping
